On March 14, US President Donald Trump announced a temporary travel ban from the United Kingdom and Ireland to the United States, effective at 12:00 AM Eastern Daylight Time on Monday, March 16.
The United Kingdom and Ireland have been added to a travel ban, which is currently in effect for countries within Europe’s Schengen Area. These countries include Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.
The measures apply to foreign nationals, not including permanent legal US residents or their immediate family members. US citizens will be allowed to return home to designated airports, where they will undergo heightened health screenings.
